Rick Hey all, hope you had a good run last night I will be back in two weeks see you then.
George Ay! Ay! and ahoy, I will be there, Captain!!!
Karen The Capt. says there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE OF RAIN TONIGHT. So he will be there at 6 pm.
Karen It definitely is pretty flat here in MB. We run all summer - we make our Tues night runs at 7 rather than 6 and yes, we run early on the weekends. Cooper River is a great run. I did that one last year and it was a lot of fun. The most popular runs here are the NMB Winter Run (15K) in Jan, Blue Crab 5K in May, Sun Fun Beach Run 5K in June and two different Turkey Trots in November. All the races are really good, but those are the most popular.
Ray I appreciate the invite Karen. It will be interesting to see the difference running will be there in the Grand Strand vs. here in Upstate, NY. For instance I imagine it's flat there as opposed to the hills here. Also what the heck do you do about running in the Summer? Do a lot of people run indoors or real early or real late in the day? Your club like I said, seems very similar to ours which is great! I'm sure runners are the same no matter where you are....full of real positive, motivated people! I tell ya one thing, I can't wait to do the Cooper River Bridge Run! What are the "must runs" in the Grand Strand area?
julie Hey Jeff, hope all is well with you despite the snow. It's been a crazy year of weather all over it seems! Heather, the NMB St. Patrick's day run I BELIEVE has been cancelled this yr bc there wasn't enough participation last year. I can email Dave Hanson to be sure. Kevin wants to go furniture shopping tonight (he's such a grown up) so I did my run this morning. We miss you all and will hopefully get everything back in order soon so we can start coming up regularly again!
Karen Hey Ray. Glad you found us. That's great that you have a running club similar to ours. I am definitely going to check out your site. We look forward to you joining us when you get down here. As a fellow (but former) New Yorker, I am used to the snow and don't miss it at all down here. Keep watching our Board and feel free to add a post of your own letting us know what your club is doing. Let us know when you get into town, we'd love to have you join us.
Karen Hey Everyone! The weather is looking a bit rough for tonights run - rainy and cold. But the Capt. says he is going to monitor the weather and let me know if there will be any breaks in the clouds long enough to get a run in. PLEASE CHECK THE BOARD AGAIN AROUND 5 PM FOR AN UPDATE!! I have hospitality night for Sheraton tonight and tomorrow so I won't be there at all tonight :(
Ray Part 1: I just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. I'm a little far away in Syracuse, NY to hook up with you guys for a run, but I saw the Tuesday nights at Wild Wings and I said to myself.....I'm in!! So as soon as I move down there in late June '10, I'm going to hook up with you guys for some fun in the sun! I started a Run Club in Syracuse called Lake Effect....because we average 10 feet of Lake Effect snow up here every year.....what that's a lot?? OK I did laugh out loud when the MBM was cancelled due to 2 inches of snow!!! (I actually blogged about it, it was so funny).
Ray Part 2: Here's my web site. Who knows you make like some the ideas for NMBRG. http://lakeeffectrunclub.wordpress.com/ Your Club sounds strangly familiar to mine.....For instance we started the Club the same Month, We have Tuesday runs with a pub after to rehydrate and Saturday long runs to punish us for being bad on Tuesdays, and we encourage laid back not-all-about-your-time fun. Can't wait to get there and go for a run.....and a beer.....and some wings. As the medicine label for our club states, "A heavy dose of fun with a side effect of fitness." See ya soon!
George Hi! Jeff, great that you are with your loved one's, but we like you and we all miss you. Good Luck, guy!!!
HeatherG Hi friends, hope you are all doing well! Any word on the North Myrtle Beach St Patricks run? Is it being held this year?
Nathan Haley and I want to invite everyone to our house at 7:00 this Saturday night (Feb. 27th) for desserts and game night. We will be answering life's most important questions like: "what does a cow think while he is being milked by a farmer?" Trust me you won't want to miss it! Hope to see you all then! 805 Carolina Farms Blvd
Karen Hey Jeff. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well. MB Marathon was a bummer this year, although I am out for the time being with 2 stress fractures in my foot. The nice weather is coming (60's this weekend). Let us know when you come to town to visit.
Jeff Hey gang! Just checking in.....sorry to hear the MB Marathon was cancelled; hard to believe they made the decision to cancel. It is hard for me to feel too sorry for you though. About 2 weeks ago we got about 20 inches of snow and it has just kept snowing...one inch here, six inches there..... We were without power from Sat morning until Thursday night. Stayed with mother in law; way to much family time together. Anyway, I hope you are all well. Miss you all!
So good to hear from you man! We miss you! You know you always have a place to stay when you want to visit the Grand Strand!
Bill 8 AM Sat. (20th) at Atlanta Bread Company, NMB. Jane and I are going to do ten miles. Anyone joining us? Must do it early this weekend as golf awaits at noon.
Karen Hey everyone - remember Grand Strand Running Club Meeting tonight after our 6pm run at Buffalo Wild Wing (7:15 for the meeting). Lots to talk about - MB Marathon, Palmetto200, Murrells Inlet running group, scholarships, etc. Hope y'all can make it.
Matthew http://www.wmbfnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=11980641 vote on whether or not canceling the MB marathon was a good idea.
Bill 9 AM tomorrow (SUN) works for Jane and I at Atlanta Bread Co. in NMB. Maybe 10 miles or so?
Lorena It's a shame that the race was canceled. All I can say is I am very glad I didn't have to make that call. Well since I am carbo loaded up, anybody want to get in a longish run tomorrow? It would have been fun to run the course in the snow :(
Bill In 1995 I was the race director for the Allentown (PA) half marathon, a race of 1500 runners. With a week to go before the race we had to cancel the event as the police would not guarentee use of the city streets as it was a "backup day" for the St Pattys Parade. I and the race comm. and of course the runners were livid. At least we had a week to call everyone. Before we get angry at the race comm. I would bet they wanted to have it but the city was the culprit. Nobody wants to take a chance anymore. it would have turned into probably one of the neatest races we have ever experienced but such is life and it's cruelties. It is really laughable for us ex-northerners but I would assume the good news to be we are already entered and paid for next year and now have 12 months to get in better shape and get healthy. Jane and I will be at the House of Blues tonight drinking and carrying on. Hope you all can make it. Time to go for a fun run in the snow. Hang in there friends.
Jane Oh, I'm so sorry participants for the cancelation. It would have been a hoot to run today. Bill and I are looking to go out for a run this morning. We'll be at House of Blues tonight ... Bill is focusing his disappointment in a few beers. Hope you all come too.
cowboy Torian Brewer ran the 5k tonite 23:30 i felt good to be his cheerleader walking in the snow 1mile and back wow you all do not know what lays in store for you. i am in amazed mode for all the bionie men and women that's bionic survival of the fitnest for sure go yall.
